Rules of Article

Uses of a/an:

1) The same (একই) a certain (কোন এক) অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে singular common noun এর পূর্বে a/an বসে।

There lived a (a certain) king.

2) কখনো কখনো preposition অর্থে a ব্যবহার হয় তখন সেই a কে distinguished preposition বলে|

The king went a (on) hunting.

3) Abstract noun যখন common noun রুপে ব্যবহৃত হয় তখন তার পূর্বে a/an বসে।

Helen was a beauty.

4) তুলনা অর্থে proper noun যখন common noun রুপে ব্যবহৃত হয় তখন তার পূর্বে a/an বসে।

Nazrul is a Byron of Bangladesh.

5) সংখ্যাবাচক expression যেমন dozen, hundred, thousand, million, score, couple এর পূর্বে  a বসে।

I earn a thousand taka daily.

6) Exclamation বুঝাতে what/How এর পর a/an হয়।

What a beautiful place!

7) Plural noun এর পূর্বে few, little, lot of, good many, good deal, great many এর পূর্বে  a

বসে।

King Solomon had a great deal of money.
